A Witness with the Same Name Everywhere

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

You may have one reputation at church and another in a group chat. Keeping those two worlds apart takes effort, and eventually somebody sees both. Jesus calls His disciples to a life that gives the Father glory wherever it is seen.
That includes ordinary choices. Give honest credit on a shared assignment. Refuse a joke that humiliates another student. Treat the person serving lunch with the same respect you give the person handing out awards. Good works are useful to the people receiving them before anybody notices your witness.
We do not earn salvation by being impressive. Those who trust Christ are called to show His goodness through their conduct. When you fail, an honest apology can be part of that witness too. You do not have to protect a picture of perfection. Walk truthfully with the Lord, and let the same name stand for the same kind of conduct in every room you enter.
Put the passage into practice
Public faith can become mixed with a desire for recognition. Read Jesus' words carefully and notice where the glory belongs. Serve in ways that benefit the person, including when the act will never improve your reputation. Be truthful about your limits and mistakes. A consistent life does more to commend the truth than an impressive presentation that hides careless conduct. The light belongs in ordinary responsibilities as well as in moments when you speak openly about following Christ.
Keep the passage in context
Jesus tells His disciples to let their good works point others to the Father. The purpose is God's glory, not attention for the person doing the work.
