A Glad Spirit in an Ordinary Job

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Psalm 100:2 KJV
Some jobs are easier to begin than others. You may enjoy helping with a special event and feel much less interested in the cleanup afterward. The Lord's worth does not change when the exciting part of service is finished.
Psalm 100 calls us to serve Him with gladness. That gladness grows from knowing who He is. We belong to the God who made us and cares for His people. Service becomes an opportunity to respond to His goodness rather than a burden whose only value is the praise it brings.
You do not have to pretend every task feels entertaining. You can choose a willing attitude, speak kindly, and do useful work without making everyone hear a complaint at each step. If a responsibility is unsafe or beyond your ability, ask for appropriate help clearly.
Look for the person your work serves. Putting something away may make the next person's job easier. A careful explanation may help someone who is learning. Glad service often grows when our attention moves from how impressive the job feels to the good it can do before the Lord.
Keep the passage in context
Psalm 100 calls for glad service and worship before the LORD. The joy is rooted in knowing Him as God, Creator, and Shepherd of His people.
