Glad for Someone Else

Envy does not always announce itself. Sometimes it sounds like a small unkind remark after another person is praised. Sometimes it makes you ignore a friend's good news because you wanted the same opportunity.

Proverbs 14:30 warns that envy damages the person carrying it. Another child's success does not remove your worth or make God's care smaller. You can work toward a goal without resenting everyone who reaches it before you.

Congratulate someone honestly today. Do not attach a sentence that reduces the achievement. Then give attention to a responsibility or gift already in your hands. Gratitude is not pretending you never feel disappointed. It is refusing to let disappointment grow into bitterness toward someone else.
