Love Is a Continuing Responsibility

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:8 KJV
It can be tempting to say that you have already been nice to someone. You shared yesterday, helped last week, and gave up your turn the time before. Now you feel as though kindness should be somebody else's job.
Romans describes love as a duty that continues. Paul is not saying that we can ignore other responsibilities or that one person must do every task. He is teaching that love does not become unnecessary because we practiced it before.
You may need rest or a fairer way to share the work. Say that honestly. Then look for the kind response available today. It might be a patient explanation, a kept promise, or a refusal to mock. People are not accounts we finish paying and forget. God calls us to keep caring about their good as we live beside them.
Bring the truth into your day
Paul describes love as an ongoing obligation. You cannot finish it with one generous act and then treat people carelessly for the rest of the week. Return to kindness in ordinary moments. Respect another person's property, keep your word, and pay what you properly owe. Read the surrounding verses to see how love refuses to harm a neighbour and gives practical shape to obedience.
