What Your Words Can Do

Words do not have to be shouted to cause harm. A nickname repeated every day, a rumor passed quietly, or a joke aimed at someone's insecurity can do lasting damage.

Proverbs 18:21 warns us that speech has serious consequences. It does not mean we can make events happen simply by announcing them. It means our words affect people, relationships, and decisions.

Use that influence carefully. Correct a false story you helped spread. Stop using a name someone dislikes. Encourage honestly instead of praising just to get something. Before speaking, consider whether the sentence is true, needed, and kind in its purpose. Your mouth is part of your responsibility before God.
