Agree to Seek Wise Help

Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.
Proverbs 27:9 KJV
A couple can become stuck in the same conversation because both people know the familiar arguments too well. An appropriate counselor may help them hear facts, recognize patterns, and take responsibilities seriously.
Seek someone trustworthy, biblically grounded, and qualified for the matter involved. A complex financial, medical, or safety problem may require professional assistance alongside pastoral care. Good intentions alone do not provide every kind of expertise.
Go with a willingness to learn rather than a plan to recruit a referee who will declare your spouse wrong. Tell the truth about your own conduct. Advice is useful only when the person offering it receives an honest account.
Counsel should never pressure someone to hide abuse or return to danger. Safety and lawful accountability remain essential. In a safe setting, receiving wise help can be an act of humility and hope. The Lord often uses faithful people to show us what familiarity has made difficult to see. Asking for help does not announce that marriage is unimportant. It can express a serious desire to care for it with more wisdom than you currently possess.
