Carry One Part of the Burden
Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2 KJV
You may not be able to solve the problem troubling your spouse. A difficult diagnosis, a family concern, or a demanding season at work may remain beyond your control. You can still help carry part of the ordinary weight around it.
Take responsibility for a practical task. Make the call, prepare the meal, handle the errand, or sit quietly through an appointment when your presence is welcome. Specific help keeps compassion from remaining only a feeling.
Listen before deciding what assistance is needed. The task that looks most important to you may not be the one creating the greatest pressure. Respect your spouse's voice and avoid turning help into control.
Burden-bearing does not require one person to become endlessly available without rest or support. Seek help from trusted people when the load is too great for the household alone. Christ teaches His people to love through service, and that service often takes a modest form. You may not remove the whole burden today, but carrying one part faithfully can make the next step possible for someone you love.
Keep the passage in context
