Making the Right Choice Easier

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Couples sometimes wait until a temptation has become a crisis before speaking about it. A spending habit grows secret. An unhealthy friendship grows closer. Resentment gains a familiar place in the conversation.
Paul warns against self-confidence and points to God's faithfulness. The Lord provides a way to endure temptation without choosing sin. That does not mean we should stand beside the danger and congratulate ourselves on being strong.
Build honest habits before the pressure grows. Be open about finances. Keep appropriate boundaries in relationships. Seek help early when anger, secrecy, or another pattern starts gaining ground. A spouse is a companion in faithfulness, not a substitute for the Holy Spirit or a permanent investigator. Take responsibility for your own choices while welcoming wise support. God has not made disobedience your only option. Sometimes the faithful next step is as practical as ending a conversation, closing a screen, or telling the truth before the lie becomes larger.

Paul warns believers against the sins illustrated in Israel's history. God's faithfulness in temptation calls for watchfulness and obedience, not confidence in our own strength or a promise that suffering will feel manageable alone.
