As Joseph Had Interpreted

And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

Scripture Review
Pharaoh’s birthday arrives on the third day, and both interpretations are fulfilled. The chief butler is restored to his office and again gives the cup into Pharaoh’s hand. The chief baker is hanged. Scripture closes the account with the words, “as Joseph had interpreted to them.” The outcomes prove that the interpretation belonged to God.
Three days passed in the ordinary rhythm of prison life, but the appointed day came exactly. One man walked back into the palace; the other faced judgment. God’s Word is not uncertain because the fulfillment has not arrived by breakfast. When He speaks, time does not weaken what He has said. The contrast also reminds me that restoration is mercy, not entitlement. The butler received his place again, but he now carried a responsibility to remember the servant who had told him the truth.
Pharaoh meant to exercise royal judgment on his birthday, restoring one officer and executing the other according to his decision.
God meant to confirm His revelation precisely and return the butler to the position from which he could later speak for Joseph.
What this asks of me
I should take both God’s promises and His warnings seriously. Delay does not make either one empty. When mercy restores me, I must not treat it as though I earned my place. I should remember the people God used in my trouble and use renewed opportunity faithfully.
