Day 46 – Genesis 41:28-32

This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:

And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

Scripture Review
Joseph explains that the famine will be so grievous that the plenty will be forgotten. Then he tells Pharaoh why the dream was doubled: “because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” Egypt’s future does not rest in the magicians’ opinions. The warning comes from the God who rules harvests and nations.
This passage records a specific revelation to Pharaoh; it does not teach me to treat every repeated dream as a message from God. My final authority is the written Word of God. In Joseph’s case, repetition confirmed certainty and urgency. The time to act was before empty fields made preparation impossible. Established truth should produce settled obedience, not endless delay while I search for another sign.
Human beings could neither prevent the coming famine by denial nor discover its meaning through Egypt’s own spiritual experts.
God meant to establish the certainty of His warning and give Pharaoh a short window in which wise action could preserve life.
What this asks of me
I must not turn delay into a spiritual virtue when God’s Word is already plain. I do not need another sign to forgive, flee temptation, tell the truth, or prepare responsibly. Certainty about God’s Word should make me steady; urgency about obedience should make me act.
