God Will Surely Visit You

And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Scripture Review
Joseph tells his brethren that he is dying, but his final emphasis is not on himself: “God will surely visit you.” He repeats the promise and makes the children of Israel swear to carry his bones up from Egypt. Joseph dies at one hundred ten, is embalmed, and is placed in a coffin in Egypt. Genesis ends with a coffin, but the coffin points toward an exodus.
Joseph could have built his final identity around an Egyptian tomb worthy of a ruler. Instead, his bones become a confession that Egypt is not the end of Israel’s story. He does not know which generation will carry them or how long the waiting will be. Faith takes God at His word and gives future obedience a concrete responsibility: when God brings you out, take me with you.
Egypt meant to contain Joseph’s body in the land where he had risen to power, and the family meant to honor his oath when the promised departure came.
God meant to leave Israel a visible pledge that He would visit, deliver, and bring them to the land sworn to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
What this asks of me
I may finish my part of a story before God fulfills everything He promised. Faith can still prepare the next generation to obey. I should leave clear truth and faithful responsibilities, not a monument to myself. Even a coffin can preach hope when it points away from present glory toward the word of God.
