Scripture Review
Hebrews 11 remembers two deathbed acts. Jacob, dying, blessed both sons of Joseph and worshipped. Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel and gave commandment concerning his bones. Neither man’s final act was centered on Egyptian security. Both looked through death toward what God had promised.
Joseph’s faith is measured here not by interpreting Pharaoh’s dream or managing grain, but by what he said about a departure he would not live to see. His coffin remained in Egypt for generations, silently contradicting the idea that Israel would stay forever. Faith can make a clear confession, assign an obedient next step, and then rest while God carries the promise beyond one lifetime.
Human wisdom means to build final confidence on what can be possessed, controlled, and completed before death.
God means for faith to embrace His promise beyond sight, beyond one generation, and beyond the believer’s earthly life.
What this asks of me
I should ask what my final priorities say I believe. Faithfulness is not completing every task myself; sometimes it is handing the next generation a promise and a responsibility. I can worship at the edge of weakness and trust God to finish work that extends beyond my years.

- What do my long-range choices reveal about where I believe lasting security is found?
- What promise and responsibility should I faithfully pass to someone who may see what I will not?
