Approval Is a Poor Compass

Trust in God does not make rejection pleasant. It gives you a stronger reason for obedience than the hope that everyone will agree. You can receive wise correction without surrendering your conscience to popularity.

Identify the pressure before it chooses for you. Decide what Scripture requires, get counsel when the situation is complicated, and take the honest step. Do not measure the decision only by the reaction it receives. Some good choices will feel lonely at first, and responsible support can help you continue.
