Before You Pick a Side

A short clip, a screenshot, or one person's version can make a dispute look simple. You may feel pressure to announce a judgment immediately. Proverbs gives you permission to do something wiser: hear the matter first.

Listening is not disloyalty to a friend. It is part of treating people truthfully. Refuse to add certainty where you have only an impression. If a serious concern involves danger, take it to a responsible adult rather than conducting a public argument.

The same principle applies at home. Let a parent or sibling finish explaining before you prepare your defense. You may still need to disagree, but you should understand what you are disagreeing with. Wisdom is more interested in what is true than in being first to speak.
