Work That Is Not Wasted

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV
Some useful work produces very little visible response. You help, prepare, or continue faithfully, and the result seems small. Discouragement can suggest that the effort was wasted because no one made much of it.
Paul connects perseverance with the resurrection. Christ has risen, and the future He promises is real. Service done in the Lord belongs within that larger hope. Present applause is not the final measure of its value.
Keep the phrase about labor in the Lord in view. This is not a promise that every busy project or personal ambition must succeed. Our work should agree with His Word and be carried out in dependence upon Him.
Do the responsibility before you with care. Prepare the lesson, help with the task, speak the truthful word, or encourage the person who feels overlooked. Rest when needed and accept appropriate limits; faithfulness is not the same as exhaustion. When results are slow, remember the reason Paul gives for steadfastness. The risen Saviour sees accurately, and His future is secure. Ordinary service offered to Him has a significance that a quiet response today cannot take away.
Keep the passage in context
Paul concludes his teaching about resurrection by encouraging steadfast labor in the Lord. Future resurrection gives present service enduring significance.
