The Missing Green Marker

The green marker was gone, and Ava was sure her brother had taken it. He had borrowed it yesterday. She began to accuse him before looking under her paper.
There it was, beside the ruler. Ava felt her face grow warm. She told her brother she had been wrong and put the marker back in the box when she finished.
The Bible says love rejoices in the truth. Love does not need another person to be guilty so it can feel right. Ava could learn to look carefully and ask kindly before deciding what happened. Admitting the truth did not make her smaller. It helped repair the hurt her quick accusation had caused. The marker was easy to find, and honest words helped the afternoon settle down again.
A small step for today
Love does not laugh when someone is hurt or when a wrong thing happens. It is glad when truth is told and right is done. Be hopeful about your friend, but do not hide a dangerous secret. Tell a trusted grown-up when someone needs help. Real care wants people to be safe and to learn what is right.
