The Spilled Juice
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 KJV
This is an original fictional illustration, not a historical report or an added Bible event.
Clara spilled juice on a library book. At first she said the cup had been too close. Then she remembered that she had put it there, even after Mom asked her to move it.
Clara told the whole truth. She had disobeyed and then tried to blame the cup. Mom helped her dry the pages and explain the damage to the librarian.
God wants honest confession, not a story that hides our part. Confess means agreeing with Him about our sin. We do not earn His forgiveness by feeling sorry enough. Forgiveness comes through Jesus Christ.
Tell the truth about your own choice, even when admitting it feels difficult.
For the grown-up reading along
John teaches believers to walk in the light rather than deny their sin. Confession agrees with God about the wrong. Forgiveness rests upon His faithfulness and Christ's sacrifice, not the strength of our regret.
