Learning without Defending Yourself

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

Psalm 25:9 KJV

Correction can feel uncomfortable before you have even considered whether it is true. You may begin planning an excuse while the other person is still explaining the problem. A humble heart gives the truth a chance to be heard.

Meekness does not mean accepting every accusation or pretending that unkind treatment is right. It means you are willing to learn instead of placing your pride above correction. Listen carefully, ask for a clear example when needed, and be honest about your part.

God teaches His people through His Word. When Scripture exposes a wrong attitude or action, the useful response is to turn toward obedience. Finding someone who has made a larger mistake will not repair your own choice.

Receive appropriate help from parents and sound teachers without treating each lesson as a threat to your worth. You can belong to Christ and still need to grow in many ways. A teachable spirit makes room for that growth. The Lord's way is worth learning, even when the first step is admitting that your own way needs to change.

Keep the passage in context

Psalm 25 describes the LORD guiding the meek in judgment and teaching them His way. Humility is ready to receive God's direction rather than insisting upon its own wisdom.
