Strength That Does Not Shout
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Proverbs 16:32 KJV
It can feel powerful to shout until everyone becomes quiet. Proverbs 16:32 gives a better measure of strength. A person who governs his spirit is doing something greater than outward force alone can accomplish.
Self-control does not mean you never feel angry. It means anger does not get permission to choose your words, your hands, or your next message. You can explain a wrong and ask for help without hurting someone in return.
Practise one small pause today. Put the controller down, step back from the disagreement, or wait before answering. Come back to the concern when you can speak clearly. Patience is not doing nothing; it is refusing to let a feeling become your master.

Proverbs compares ruling one's spirit with mighty achievement. Patience and self-control are real strength. The verse does not praise suppressing every emotion; it commends governing our response instead of being ruled by anger.
