At the end, the teacher thanked her for work some of the group had not noticed. Confidence had been easy to see; dependable care had taken longer to recognize.
First Samuel 16:7 warns against judging only by outward appearance. God knows the heart completely. We do not, which is a reason for humility in our judgments.
Notice faithful actions instead of choosing worth by popularity or style. Give quiet people time to be known, and do your own work honestly even when attention goes elsewhere.
Keep the passage in context
God corrects Samuel's judgment of Eliab while choosing Israel's next king. Outward appearance does not give a complete measure of a person. The LORD knows the heart in a way human observers cannot.
