Truth That Helps the Simple
Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psalm 19:7 KJV
You do not need to know everything before opening your Bible. The verse speaks about God's testimony making the simple wise. A teachable person can receive true help from the Lord instead of pretending to understand every difficult subject already.
Begin with what the passage actually says. Read the surrounding verses, notice who is speaking, and ask a trusted teacher about words you do not understand. Learning takes time. A question honestly admitted is a better beginning than an answer invented to protect your pride.
Wisdom also reaches your conduct. Understanding that lying is wrong should affect the next explanation you give. Learning about kindness should change the way you answer someone who needs patience. Bible knowledge has a purpose beyond becoming the person who wins every discussion.
God's Word is trustworthy before you become an experienced reader. Depend on its truth and keep learning. The Lord can use patient reading, sound teaching, and ordinary obedience to help you grow. You can begin today with a willing heart and the next passage in front of you.
Keep the passage in context
