Another Set of Eyes

Proverbs warns that purposes are disappointed without counsel. Seeking help does not mean that your marriage has failed. It means you recognize that experience and judgment beyond your own may be useful.

Choose counsel carefully. A person who always takes your side may make you feel understood while helping you avoid your responsibility. Look for someone trustworthy who respects Scripture, hears the facts, and does not turn private matters into conversation for others.

Agree together about seeking help with a decision or recurring difficulty. Bring an honest account, including your own part. If safety is involved, do not wait for mutual agreement before obtaining protection and responsible assistance. Wise counsel serves truth and well-being, not the preservation of appearances at any cost.
