Make Rest a Shared Concern

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:29 KJV
A home can become a place where both people keep waiting for permission to stop. There is always another task, and unfinished work begins to feel like an accusation. Soon rest is treated as something available only after every need has disappeared.
Jesus invites burdened people to learn from His gentle care. His words reach deepest into our need for Him, and they also challenge the harshness with which we sometimes manage ourselves and each other.
Plan reasonable periods of rest together. Protect them fairly so that one spouse's break does not depend upon the other person's constant labor. Some responsibilities cannot be delayed, but many expectations can be simplified when discussed honestly.
Rest is not a substitute for addressing serious medical or emotional needs. Seek appropriate care when exhaustion persists. Let Christ's grace shape the way you approach limitations. You can be diligent without demanding endless output from the person you love. A household governed by kindness makes room to recover strength, enjoy companionship, and return to necessary work with a more patient heart.
