Remove the Arrangement That Feeds the Wrong
Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Romans 13:14 KJV
An apology may be sincere while the old arrangement remains ready for the next failure. The same access, the same secrecy, and the same unguarded situation continue unchanged.
Paul's instruction reaches practical provision. If a pattern repeatedly draws you toward sin, change the conditions that help it continue. A clear boundary, a different routine, or trustworthy accountability can give repentance a concrete form.
Apply this first to yourself. It is easier to design restrictions for a spouse than to remove the convenience that protects your own weakness. Take responsibility without waiting to be caught again.
Safeguards do not save a person or replace a changed heart. Christ saves, and His grace teaches us to live differently. Practical obedience agrees with that grace. Discuss necessary changes honestly, and seek qualified help when a serious pattern has become established. A marriage is better served by a truthful adjustment than by another confident promise made beside the unchanged conditions of yesterday's failure. Remove the arrangement that keeps offering the wrong choice a comfortable place to stay.
Keep the passage in context
Paul calls believers to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh. Christian obedience includes refusing practical arrangements that nourish sinful desire.
