The Times We Cannot Arrange

Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.

My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

Psalm 31:15 KJV

There are seasons a couple cannot hurry. A medical process, a job search, a family decision, or grief may continue beyond the date when both people hoped life would settle.

David's words place time itself before God. He does not deny the danger or stop asking for help. He recognizes that his life is held by Someone wiser than the people and pressures surrounding him.

Continue the practical steps available to you. Keep appointments, seek counsel, gather information, and fulfill ordinary responsibilities. At the same time, resist making your spouse answer for a delay neither of you controls.

Waiting can expose different coping habits. One person talks often; another needs quiet before speaking. Learn those differences kindly while keeping communication open. The Lord remains faithful during the unarranged season. You do not have to discover a hidden timetable before trusting Him. Receive today's responsibilities and today's provision, and let the future remain in His hands. A shared life can be lived faithfully one day at a time even when the next large change has not yet arrived.

Keep the passage in context

David places his times in the LORD's hand while seeking deliverance from enemies. His confidence rests in God's care amid circumstances he cannot govern.
