Tomorrow Can Wait until Tomorrow

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Some evenings we bring next month's trouble into tonight's conversation. We discuss a bill that has not arrived, a result we do not have, and a problem that might never happen. Before long, we are tired with each other because we are frightened about the future.
Jesus calls His disciples to seek God's kingdom and righteousness. That gives us something solid to do today. Pay the bill that is due. Speak truthfully. Make the appointment. Care for the people already entrusted to you. Tomorrow belongs under the same Father's care as this evening.
Planning together is wise. Rehearsing every possible disaster until neither person can rest is something else. Set a time to handle the matter, write down the next practical step, and let your spouse be a companion rather than another place to unload panic. Faith does not guarantee the outcome you prefer. It helps you obey God in the day you have actually been given.
Keep the passage in context
Jesus addresses anxious concern about daily provision and directs His disciples to seek God's kingdom and righteousness. He does not forbid responsible planning or promise a life without hardship.
