Day 106 – 2 Samuel 6:16
Scripture Review
2 Samuel 6:16
"And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart."
(2 Samuel 6:16)
This view the Holy Spirit provides, create the image in my mind of a Princess in a castle looking out the window. And as the Ark is coming into the city of David, she see David "leaping and dancing before the LORD."
David is down with the people, near the Ark, worshipping "before the LORD." Michal is watching from a distance, "through a window." She sees the king worshipping, but she does not share the joy. She "despised him in her heart."
I notice scripture calls her "Michal Saul's daughter." The Holy Spirit deliberately repeats her lineage (not "David's wife" here), grammatically tying her to Saul's rebellious house There is a huge difference between the spirit of Saul's house and the spirit of David in this moment. Saul had cared about image and public honor. David cared more about the LORD than image and honor.
This has a lot to say about marriage and dating. It is extremely important to make sure that you both desire to worship the same Spirit. Marry or date only those who fear the LORD more than public honor. Do not yoke with anyone whose heart remains tied to Saul's house. Seek a fellow David, one who leaps before the LORD unashamed.
"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31:30
"Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Amos 3:3
"Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp." Psalm 149:3
