2 Samuel 6:17-19

"And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD."

(2 Samuel 6:17)

The Ark is brought in and set "in his place." Now it is where David prepared for it. The presence of the LORD, represented by the Ark, is being brought to the center of the city. The burnt offering speaks of surrender and consecration. The peace offering speaks of fellowship and thanksgiving.

"And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts."

(2 Samuel 6:18)

As soon as the offerings are finished, David blesses the people. He blesses them "in the name of the LORD of hosts." The same LORD of hosts who broke through upon the Philistines has now brought the Ark into Jerusalem. David knows the strength of the kingdom is the LORD of hosts.

"And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house."

(2 Samuel 6:19)

David deals among "all the people," men and women alike. Nobody is left standing outside the blessing. Every person receives bread, flesh, and a flagon of wine. The blessing spreads through the multitude. Then "all the people departed every one to his house." The national celebration sends people home with provision and joy.
