A Refuge in the Trouble You Actually Have
Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1 KJV
Sometimes you cannot make the troubling thing disappear. A family difficulty, a loss, or an uncertain future may remain even after you have done everything available to you. Scripture does not ask you to pretend that the burden is small.
God is described as a refuge and strength in trouble. His care is not limited to keeping every hard circumstance away. He is present with His people when familiar supports are shaken and their own resources are not enough.
Turn toward Him through His Word and honest dependence. Accept help from trustworthy adults, church members, and qualified professionals when needed. Using the help available to you is not evidence that you have failed to trust God.
Take one manageable responsibility at a time. You may need to eat, rest, attend school, or have a careful conversation before you can think clearly about anything larger. The Lord's faithfulness is not measured by how quickly you feel better. He remains worthy of trust through a slow recovery or an unresolved difficulty. Your trouble is real, and so is the refuge He provides for those who belong to Him.
