A Saviour Who Continues to Care

Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7:25 KJV

Some help ends as soon as the difficult beginning is over. A person shows you the first step and then expects you to manage alone. Jesus Christ does not save His people and lose interest in what happens next.

Hebrews presents Him as the living High Priest whose care does not expire. His sacrifice was sufficient, and His intercession continues. The security of the believer rests in His faithfulness rather than in a changing level of confidence or a flawless emotional state.

This truth should encourage serious obedience. The Lord who keeps His people also works in them. We should never use His care as an excuse to treat sin casually. Bring failure into the light, receive correction, and depend upon His strength to walk differently.

You may feel small when you consider the years ahead. There will be decisions you cannot yet imagine and responsibilities you have not learned to carry. The Saviour already knows them. Trust Him for salvation and keep learning to depend upon Him in ordinary life. His ability to save is not limited to the moment when you first understood the gospel.

Keep the passage in context

Jesus has an unchanging priesthood and lives to intercede for those who come to God by Him. His saving ability rests in who He is and His enduring ministry.
