First Things in an Anxious Week
Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 KJV
A busy week can make everything feel urgent. Grades, friendships, activities, and plans crowd together until it seems that the only solution is to worry faster. Jesus gives His followers a different order for their attention.
Seeking God's kingdom means treating His rule and His righteousness as central. It does not remove homework, preparation, or wise planning. It changes the way those responsibilities are carried. We can work faithfully without making control over every outcome our highest goal.
Do the next right thing. Prepare honestly for the test, speak truthfully in the difficult conversation, and ask for help where you need it. Refuse shortcuts that would require disobedience, even when pressure makes them attractive.
This verse does not promise that Christians will become wealthy or receive every opportunity they want. It teaches confidence in the Father's care. Bring anxious thoughts to Him and accept the support of trustworthy people. If anxiety is persistent or overwhelming, tell a parent or another safe adult. You can seek appropriate help while learning to keep the Lord first in the responsibilities of an ordinary week.
Keep the passage in context
