One Saviour, Spoken of Kindly

Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 4:12 KJV

It can feel easier to say that every sincere belief leads to the same destination. Acts 4 gives a clear answer about salvation. Jesus Christ is the only Saviour. His death for our sins and bodily resurrection cannot be replaced by sincerity, good intentions, or a different religious system.

This truth should make Christians humble. We did not invent a better way or make ourselves worthy of rescue. We are sinners who need the grace Christ provides. There is no place for treating other people with contempt while speaking about the mercy we ourselves require.

Learn to distinguish kindness toward a person from agreement with every belief. You can listen respectfully, refuse mockery, and still speak truthfully about the Lord Jesus. Changing the gospel to avoid discomfort does not serve the person who needs to hear it.

Keep your words plain and your manner patient. When questions arise, return to Scripture in its context. The message is too important for careless claims or arguments arranged mainly to win. Christ alone saves, and love gives us reason to proclaim Him faithfully rather than hide Him behind a safer-sounding sentence.

Keep the passage in context

Peter declares that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. His statement follows witness to Christ's resurrection and authority, not an attempt to promote human superiority.
