The Good God Is Forming

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 8:29 KJV
Romans 8:28 is sometimes treated as a promise that every difficulty will soon produce an outcome we enjoy. The next verse helps us see more clearly. God's purpose includes making His people like His Son.
Growth in Christ's likeness may involve patience learned during delay, humility received through correction, and love practised when convenience disappears. We should not claim to know the exact reason for every hardship, and we should never call another person's suffering easy. The Lord's purpose is still wiser than our narrow measure of success.
When a day goes badly, consider the obedience that remains clear. Tell the truth, receive help, refuse revenge, and continue the useful responsibility before you. These choices matter even while the larger explanation is hidden.
Christlikeness is not something we manufacture apart from the Lord. We depend upon His Word and Spirit as we grow. A comfortable result may be a gift, but it is not the only form God's goodness can take. Trust the Father who knows what He is forming, and stay willing for His truth to shape your response in the middle of the unfinished day.
Keep the passage in context
Paul identifies conformity to the image of God's Son within God's purpose for His people. The good described in the surrounding passage is deeper than comfortable circumstances.
