Ready for the Rain
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

Rain was coming, and Lily's chalk was still on the path. She wanted to finish her picture, but she noticed the dark clouds.
She gathered the chalk into its box and put her little brother's toys under the porch too. When the rain arrived, they watched it wash the path clean. The chalk was dry for another day.
Proverbs tells us to learn from the ant, which prepares what it needs. Lily did not have to wait for someone to remind her about every toy. She could notice a job and help.
Do one useful thing that is already clear to you today. Small preparations matter.
For the grown-up reading along
The ant illustrates diligence and preparation in a passage warning against laziness. Wisdom attends to needed work without constant supervision. Rest, illness, disability, and asking for help are not the same as laziness.
Read the KJV passage aloud. Explain unfamiliar words in ordinary language without changing the quotation.
