The Lamb by the Gate

At a small farm, a lamb pushed through a loose gate. Anna saw it near the lane and called the farmer instead of chasing it into the road.
The farmer closed the outer gate and gently brought the lamb back. Anna watched him check the broken latch before returning to his work.
A shepherd cares for sheep. Jesus calls Himself the good shepherd, and His care is greater than anything in this story. He gave His life for sinners and rose again. Only He can save us.
The farmer's care helped Anna understand a small picture of love. Jesus is the Saviour we can trust.
For the grown-up reading along
Jesus identifies Himself as the good shepherd who gives His life for the sheep. His death is a willing saving sacrifice, not simply an example of kindness. Human care can illustrate love but cannot equal His unique work.
