A Shared Calendar with Room for Service
Written for Bible Journey Plan. Our editorial standards.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Hebrews 6:10 KJV
Service requires time, and time has to come from somewhere. A couple may sincerely want to help while already carrying more commitments than the week can hold. Good intentions need an honest calendar.
Look together at what is possible. Choose a useful commitment that fits your present responsibilities, and agree on the practical support it requires. A smaller promise kept faithfully serves better than a larger one repeatedly broken.
Remember that the Lord sees quiet work. You do not need a visible role to make service worthwhile. Caring for a sick believer, helping with preparation, or providing transportation can be meaningful ministry.
This verse offers encouragement, not pressure to exhaust yourself. God's knowledge of faithful service frees us from trying to make every act visible. Let shared planning protect both your marriage and the people you intend to serve. When the task is complete and little notice follows, receive the comfort of a Lord who has not forgotten. Love expressed through dependable work belongs to a larger account than the one kept by public appreciation.
Keep the passage in context
The writer assures believers that God remembers their work and love shown through ministry to His people. Their service has not escaped His notice.
