Contentment in the House We Have

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

We can spend so much time imagining a different home that we stop living gratefully in the one we have. The larger kitchen, better neighborhood, or newer furniture becomes a condition for feeling settled.
Hebrews places contentment beside God's promise that He will not leave His people. Possessions cannot provide that kind of security. They are useful gifts, but they do not have the strength to become our refuge.
It is reasonable to plan for a change when needs require it. Plan together without allowing comparison to sour the life already entrusted to you. Name what is good in this season. Care for the things you have. Make a simple place for conversation, rest, and welcome. A house does not have to meet every preference before it can shelter love. The Lord's faithfulness is available in the rented room, the crowded kitchen, and the unfinished corner as surely as in the home you hope to own someday.
Keep the passage in context
The writer joins contentment and freedom from covetousness to God's promise of His presence. The assurance rests in Him rather than in possessions or an absence of opposition.
